Normal Everyday Images

Might just be me and my secret wish for nicer photography, but it seems that there is an increase in imagery in the Danish press featuring bicycles. Or rather, an increase in the quality of the imagery. I've noticed one national daily, Berlingske Tidende (founded 1749) upping their artistic sensibilities of late. Like the photo, above, taken in Aalborg yesterday morning. It's a simple article about the weather but it features a cyclist rolling on the bike lane in the snow (past all the cars on the road, of course). The temperature was about -10 C, with a wicked windchill. Then there was this weather article from late last year about rain and wind. Beautiful shot. Like all of these photos, showing cyclists adds a human element to the story. In a country like Denmark we can relate to the weather when we see a fellow citizen struggling through the elements on a bicycle. The same newspaper used to have Bicycle Weather included on their weather page in their print version. Showing...

Aerial NYC 1930

Katherine sent us the link to this lovely photo from the Metropolitan Museum of Art . It was taken in - we believe - New York by the Hungarian-born photographer László Moholy-Nagy (1895-1946). The title is 7 A.M. (New Year's Morning) and it was taken around 1930. Ironically, the credit for the photograph reads, " Ford Motor Company Collection, Gift of Ford Motor Company and John C. Waddell, 1987 " Lovely shot. Reminds us of this Copenhagen version, taken in 2007:

Ulitmate Pannier

Now THAT'S a bicycle pannier! Love it. Shot is from Nepal. Thanks to Paul Martin in Brisbane for this shot and all the other ones in this gallery from ABC . Showing the bicycle at work all around the world. I love the bicycle powered fan in the jail in Manila.

Ice Ice Baby

A little spot of winterliciousness from Austria, as photographed by ' Anuwintschalek ' on Flickr. Perhaps her Triobike is parked nearby. With the record cold snap chilling most of Europe , it's nice to see how cyclists across the Continent either just get on with it or find unique ways to adapt. Nice to see he is riding a normal bike and I love the mirrors. You never know who's skating up behind you.
